Donut chart
A donut chart is a pie chart with a hole in the middle. It is often preferred over a pie chart because it uses space more efficiently, and the hole can carry extra information, such as the total or a label.
For example, a donut chart can show how many forms have been submitted, approved and rejected, with the total number of forms in the centre.

Add a donut chart
- In the designer, open the Charts tab of the Widgets pane and drag Donut Chart onto the dashboard. Resize it as required.
- On the Assign Data tab, pick the Data source.
- Add the number each slice measures to Value (for example Count of ID) and the field for the slices to Category (for example Status).
- Name the chart and adjust its look on the Properties tab, then save the dashboard.
Pie, donut and pyramid charts share one settings panel, described in Common chart settings.
Settings worth knowing
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Inner Radius (Layout & Appearance) | The size of the hole, 50% by default. Set it to 0 for a pie. |
| Outer Radius (Layout & Appearance) | The size of the donut, 80% by default. |
| Start Angle / End Angle (Layout & Appearance) | Where the slices start and end, for example 270 to 90 for a half donut. |
| Show Center Label / Center Label (Labels) | Text in the hole. The default, Total {totalValue}, shows the total of all slices; {shortenedTotalValue} shows it abbreviated. |
| Label Value / Label Color / Label Position (Labels) | What the slice labels show, their colour, and whether they sit inside or outside the slices. White labels inside the slices work well on darker colours. |
For a fixed colour per status, for example red for Rejected, use Color Mapping in Series settings.
