Install without AppSource
For administrators
This page is for Microsoft 365 or SharePoint administrators. You don't need it to build dashboards. Who does what?
Some organisations disable Microsoft AppSource, so their users can't install apps from it. This is uncommon, but it happens in organisations with sensitive content or strict policies on apps and add-ins for Microsoft 365.
Sintel Apps, including Sintel BI, can still be installed in these environments with the steps below.
Step 1: check that you have an app catalog
To install apps you need an app catalog. Usually this is the tenant app catalog, but you can use a site collection app catalog if you prefer.
To check whether you already have a tenant app catalog, open:
https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/tenantAppCatalog.aspx
If your tenant doesn't have one, it's created the first time you open it:
- Open the SharePoint admin centre:
https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com - Select More features.
- Under Apps, select Open.
This creates the tenant app catalog.
Use a site collection app catalog instead
To use a site collection app catalog, create one with PowerShell:
powershell
Connect-SPOService -Url https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com
Add-SPOSiteCollectionAppCatalog -Site https://PathToYourSiteCollectionINFO
To create a site collection app catalog, you must be a site admin of the tenant app catalog.
Step 2: download the latest version
Download the latest Sintel BI package:
- Sintel BI: sintel-bi-spfx.sppkg
Step 3: upload the app
- Open your tenant app catalog:
https://YourTenantName-admin.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/tenantAppCatalog.aspxIf you use a site collection app catalog, open that instead. - Upload the Sintel BI package (normally named
sintel-bi-spfx.sppkg). - When you're asked to deploy it, we recommend choosing Enable this app and add it to all sites. This doesn't add the app to the Site contents of every site. It only makes it available to be added to any site.
